The MANFECRUZ project (MANtenimiento Predictivo FEderado e Inteligente de CRUZamientos, in Spanish) has been successfully carried out by the joint venture (Unión Temporal de Empresas, UTE, in Spanish) formed by Aingura IIoT, S.L., Amurrio Ferrocarril y Equipos, S.A., Dasel, S.L. and the Tecnalia Research & Innovation Foundation,

This project has developed an innovative Automatic Detection and Identification system has been created, based on Federated Learning techniques with the ability to self-learn through decentralised multi-node architectures. This system operates with real-time information, allowing continuous evaluation for its application in the Predictive maintenance of turnouts and Ultrasonic inspection of crossings. This is achieved through continuous federated IoT monitoring and the use of machine learning algorithms in dynamic environments.

The development of the project was divided into three phases:

  • Phase I, which included the design of the solution;
  • Phase II, which focused on the development of a prototype (testing the proposed solution);
  • Phase III, aimed at pre-operational verification.

The MANFECRUZ project, identified as CPP 03/21 AB (DCCPI/OCPI LOT 2: Inspection of turnout devices), ran from 30 September 2021 to 31 March 2023. With an amount of €1,410,590 according to CDTI's Pre-commercial Public Procurement of Innovation, for the development of innovative solutions in the field of turnout devices inspection and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) in the framework of Spain's Multi-regional Operational Programme 2014-2020.
